Engineered Access. Anywhere in Water.™
Overview
As part of High Water’s wider brand transformation, we created a new website to bring the business, its expertise and its growing range of specialist services together within a clear and confident digital presence.
High Water operates in a highly specialised area of civil engineering, helping contractors, utilities, infrastructure providers and asset owners work safely and effectively in and around water. Its capabilities span temporary dams and water control, temporary works design and engineering, confined-space operations and specialist in-water teams, often working in complex environments where conventional approaches simply aren’t practical.
The challenge was to turn that breadth of technical expertise into a website that was straightforward to navigate and easy to understand, without oversimplifying what High Water does.
The new website needed to communicate High Water’s credibility as a specialist engineering partner, showcase the ingenuity behind its solutions and provide a platform capable of supporting the business as it continues to grow.
Our approach
Making a complex offer easier to understand
High Water solves some unusual and technically demanding problems. Its teams might be creating a dry working area within a live watercourse, designing temporary works around a difficult structure or diverting flow to enable critical repairs. They also deploy specialist operatives into confined or in-water environments.
The challenge was to make that expertise understandable to someone encountering High Water for the first time. However, the site still needed enough technical depth for the contractors, engineers and asset owners who know exactly what they are looking for.
We started by working through the business, its services and the different ways clients engage with the team. From there, we developed a clearer website structure built around three core areas of capability: Temporary Dams & Water Control, Design & Engineering and Specialist Teams.
Individual services including frame dams, limpet dams, temporary water storage, flow diversion, temporary works design, design and build, confined-space teams and in-water teams sit beneath this structure. This allows visitors to understand the breadth of High Water’s offer while providing a clear route to the specific expertise they need.
Showing expertise in context
The site also needed to show where that expertise is applied. Dedicated sector content covers construction and civil engineering, utilities and water treatment, infrastructure and highways, marine and environmental projects, and emergency response. This gives the services real-world context and creates clearer routes into relevant project experience.
Projects play an important role throughout the website because High Water’s work is inherently visual and often technically fascinating. Rather than relying on lengthy explanations of engineering capability, project photography shows the environments the team operates in, the scale of the challenges involved and the solutions being deployed.
We designed the website around strong imagery, generous layouts and concise technical content. This gives the project photography plenty of space and allows the engineering itself to do much of the talking.
Designing for the new High Water
Messaging was developed alongside the website structure and design. The aim was to find a voice that felt technically credible without becoming overly corporate or engineering-heavy. Instead, the language is direct, knowledgeable and confident, reflecting a business built around practical problem solving.
The positioning line, Engineered Access. Anywhere in Water, became a simple expression of what connects High Water’s different capabilities. It describes the company’s ability to create safe, engineered ways for people and projects to access, control and work within challenging water environments.
From a design perspective, the website became an important extension of the new High Water identity. Bold typography, a strong visual hierarchy, technical graphic elements and large-scale project imagery give the business a distinctive digital presence. At the same time, the site retains the clarity expected of a specialist engineering company.
Behind the front end, we developed the website in WordPress to give High Water a flexible platform that can grow with the business. New projects, sectors, services and technical content can be added as its experience and capabilities continue to expand.
The result
The new website brings High Water’s specialist and technically diverse engineering offer together within a much clearer digital presence. Visitors can quickly understand what the business does, where it operates and how its combination of engineering expertise, specialist equipment and experienced teams can solve complex problems in and around water.
The structure also creates stronger connections between services, sectors and project experience. This helps potential clients move naturally from a particular challenge or capability through to examples of High Water delivering it in the real world.
Visually, the website gives High Water the space to present its work with confidence. Technical content remains important, but it is balanced by strong project imagery, straightforward navigation and a design system that makes a complex range of services feel coherent and accessible.
Together with the new brand identity, the website gives High Water a stronger platform from which to present its expertise, support business development and build recognition within the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors.
Complex environments. Clearer proposition.
A website engineered around High Water.
